Strength for Midlife, Strength for Life
As women get older, we experience health challenges beyond that of “normal aging”. Due to changing hormones during perimenopause, women can experience accelerated loss of muscle strength, bone density and soft tissue health relative to men. The perimenopause transition also puts women at higher risk for cardiovascular and metabolic diseases.
A well-rounded fitness regimen is one of the best defenses against those losses and risks. That includes:
Regular strength training for strong muscles and bones (2-3x / week)
High Intensity Interval Training for improved cardiovascular ability (1-2x / week)
Plyometric and/or power training to improve joint health (1-2x / week)
A heightened focus on proper rest and recovery, both immediately after workouts and in between
At Second Spring Fitness, the goal is to provide well-rounded strength and conditioning classes to help meet this fitness regimen with customization to meet your unique goals and challenges.
